It is best to tan 2 days prior to your event. If your event is on the Saturday, we advise tanning Thursday night before bed. Even after you have washed your tan off, the colour is still developing and will look it's best 8hrs after your first shower! This applies to both the self tanning mousse and professional spray tans.
Ensure you are freshly showered with all soap residue removed from your body. Exfoliate your body with an exfoliation mitt (Try to avoid scrubs, as they can leave a residue on your body and discolour the tan) Dry yourself completely with a towel, do not apply deodorant, perfume or moisturiser. If you are to apply moisturiser, apply a small amount to your knees, elbows, hands and feet. Moisturiser acts as a barrier and will prevent the tan from darkening in those areas. Any perfume or deoderant left on the skin can cause the tan to discolour, so it's super important to have it removed properly!
Leave on for up to 8 hours for optimal results. For a deeper tan we advise avoiding showering, swimming and perspiring for 8 hours to allow the tan to develop fully to the skin. We advise applying the tan just before bed as it's quick drying, non-sticky and leaves minimal, if any tan residue on your sheets. The longer you leave the tan, the darker it will be. You may need to test it out a couple of times before knowing what suits you best. You can always re-apply for a deeper tan.
It's important to keep your skin hydrated after a tan to increase the longevity. Dry skin speed's up the skin's natural exfoliation process, as does heavy sweating and prolonged water submersion. Ensure you moisturise after every shower to keep the skin soft and hydrated. This will make your tan last longer and fade evenly. PRO TIP: Add 4-6 drops of our Drops of Radiance tanning drops to your moisturiser to add extra colour to your tan! Suitable for both face and body.
Yes you can - However we advise using 3-4 drops of the Drops of Radiance mixed with your moisturiser. The face is more sensitive and prone to dehydration and breakouts compared to the rest of the body, therefore it's better to use the tanning drops as they will hydrate & tan your skin, leaving you with a dewy, rejuvenated glow!
DHA only affects the top layer of skin and shouldn't cause any harmful effects. Hormone levels can fluctuate whilst pregnant, causing the skin to become more sensitised. We advise a patch test first to ensure no irritation occurs. If breast feeding - Do not apply Tan Aesthetic's products to the breasts. If uncertain on self tanning whilst pregnant, please consult with your doctor.
Tan Aesthetics is a quick drying and non-sticky formula with minimal transfer. However we still advise you wear dark, full length, loose fitting clothing for the 8hrs of your developing time to be extra-precautious. Should tan come into contact with your clothes or sheets, rest-assured it will come out in the wash!
No. The products do not contain any SPF or zinc and will not protect you from the sun. We encourage making a habit of protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays by using an SPF. Did you know SPF is the number one anti-ageing product on the market? Ensure you apply it every morning and re-apply it every 2 hours throughout the day. You'll thank yourself in years to come!
